Rough & Rigid Wood-Burning Fire Pit
Husband and wife team Brad and Dawn Easley, living in a small town in Kansas, got a request from Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes to make a custom fire pit. After that, a hobby turned into a business. Shown above is the 37" "Chief" wood-burning fire pit. Made of 1/4" thick carbon steel, it will last a lifetime. It is one of a collection of "tilting" fire pits that also feature a 40" wide and 30" wide version. These fire pits are characterized by a ring below the bowl that encircles the three legs. Why three legs instead of four? A 3-legged stool never rocks.
The unique feature of a Rough and Rigid fire pit is that it can be tilted in any direction. This enables you to shield the flame from the wind and direct heat toward where you are sitting.
A key Rough and Rigid accessory is the grill grate that turns the fire pit into an outdoor cooking experience, ideal for cooking hamburgers, steaks, or vegetables and getting the special flavor that can only come from a wood fire.
Another really useful accessory is the Snuffer Lid. Not only will it protect the fire pit from the elements when not in use, but it will put the fire out by depriving it of oxygen. This will preserve logs and charcoal not fully burned for the next fire.
